Abstract

Abdominoplasty is one of the most commonly performed procedures in plastic surgery. It consists of a surgical procedure intended to improve the appearance of the abdomen by removing excess skin and fat; strengthening weakened or separated muscles, improving the abdominal contour and restoring firmness to the skin.
This study aims to perform a comparative analysis of the results and complications associated with classic and reverse abdominoplasty, in order to provide evidence-based guidance for the selection of the most appropriate technique according to the individual needs of patients.
This study has a descriptive, retrospective and cross-sectional approach. An analysis was carried out on 65 patients, 38 women and 27 men, aged between 40 and 60 years, with the presence of sagging skin and moderate-large adipose tissue in the abdomen and back, treated between 2015 and 2023.
When classifying patients according to the type of procedure, the Matarasso Classification was used for abdominal lipodystrophy, finding that: 5 patients had category I, 20 patients were in category II, 30 with category III and 10 with category IV.
