Abstract
Pediatric burns are a significant public health concern, particularly in resource-limited settings.This study aimed to compare care models between Unidad del Niño Quemado y Rehabilitación - U.NI.QUE.R. (Uruguay) and Shriners Children’s Texas (USA). A qualitative descriptive and comparative approach was conducted based on direct observation, document review, and professional surveys.
Differences were identified in resource availability, surgical organization, and continuity of care. U.NI.QUE.R. showed limitations affecting intervention timing and follow-up, while the Shriners model demonstrated greater integration and therapeutic predictability.
These findings highlight adaptable strategies to improve healthcare quality and functional outcomes in pediatric burn patients.
