Abstract
The accumulation of abdominal fat and skin laxity are a frequent reason for consultation in the plastic surgery office. High definition liposculpture is one of the most requested in recent times, due to the immediate changes in body contour.
Laser-assisted liposuction (LAL) is an innovative technique in the field of plastic surgery, with the main indication for LAL being body contouring, as well as skin retraction in areas with mild to moderate sagging, areas of dense fibrosis and high volume cases. The photothermal effect generated with the application of laser energy acts on skin laxity by stimulating the production and remodeling of collagen at the same time that it liquefies fat, which makes it an ideal alternative for some complex cases in which traditional liposculpture could not obtain optimal results without the help of surgical techniques such as minidermolipectomy.
The objective of this review was to describe my experience in high definition liposculpture (HDL) combined with 980nm Diode Laser technology in a particular case of a 32-year-old multipregnancy patient with moderate skin laxity, showing optimal results in body contouring and skin retraction intra- and post-operatively.
